Giles was telling me that the case back can be unscrewed by the owner to reveal the sapphire 'wearable' exhibition back only to be covered over again with screw in steel back for when diving over a certain depth I think he said 1000m.. but don't quote me...

I prefer the styling of this to the original. Yet again, it's not on my "anytime soon" list but I do like it!

Default Unscrewed back

I think that if it was 1000m with a crystal exhibition back Then the original Supermarine as well as many others would also have a crystal back. I could see 100m maybe and maybe is a big maybe 200m "ish" at the highest end?

What do I know? I am an obscure man who is thinking about changing his heir's nickname from "Boochie" to "Ender" Cause thats the kinda kid he is!

FWIW, I also prefer this style to the original SM.

Is this what the North Sea Divers watch is going to be based on?

I love it.

But I already have a black SuperMarine. Alistair, if they make it in black/green you can contact me.

If anyone survives a 1000m dive I pay him a meal while he tells me how he did it...

The deepest any scuba man has gone before is 330m... I appreciate the technical merit of building such watches. But if it can go to 1000m before needing the case back, no one will ever need the screw in case back ever.

Haha, no problem Alistair. If you get to talk to Giles, please ask if other colors are in the works (the green/black especially).

It's just that sometimes on forums people get caught up in details and it just doesn't make sense. Some people will look down on watches (like the S500) because it's only rated to 500m. The fact is, no human can survive that deep.

So it is entirely possible that the new S2000 needs it's case back screwed in for 1000m+ water proofability. It just won't be a problem for anyone. Even if it was needed for 100m+ dive, it wouldn't be a problem for most.

Let us in on the details when you get them!

Looks fantastic! The Supermarine was the watch that got me interested in Bremont. I still think it's one of the nicest dive watches I've seen, but on my wrist it just didn't look right to me. Too small of a diameter and too tall. To me the proportions just didn't look right...

This new one is just about perfect diameter-wise - 46 mm is my sweet spot. I suspect it's going to be thicker than the original, but between the two I'd get this new one. If it's going to be too tall it might as well have the larger diameter.

I do appreciate that this new version isn't just the previous dial with a thicker bezel. The dial's enlarged, the marker by the '3' is lengthened and the hands are the correct length. Nice to see a luminous seconds hand as well.

If this turns out to be the only 45 mm for a while I suspect I'll get one. However, an ideal version would be one that's thinner. I don't need something good to crazy depths. I probably wouldn't dive much below 30 feet any more, and I've only ever gone to 100 feet a few times. I'm comfortable taking any watch I own swimming, regardless of its depth rating (although I do pressure test everyone to at least 3 ATM) Make a thin, 45 mm version only rated to 100 meters or so and that's perfect for me. Easily wearable in all situations I would need it for...
