Default The Hamilton comes home... at last!

Here is a watch I'm really happy to get back!

I had originally bought it on eBay many years ago, and never wore it because the movement was acting up and needed repair pretty badly. So I gave it to my watchmaker for a full service and a change of crystal at the beginning of December. December of 2009 that is!

For a combination of reasons, including the poor health and semi-retirement from the wizard who was supposed to work on this watch, it took more than two years for this watch to come back to me. Ironically enough, it feels just like getting a new acquisition, as I had forgotten how this watch felt on the wrist. I have to say that I like it!

Nice! I do not recall seeing that dial before. If I had, I might have a different mind about Hamiltons with Lemanias!

Did you ever contact the person I emailed you about, Pascal?

Very nice Pascal, and a relief to have it back after so long.

After 2 years it must feel very much like having a new watch.

Hamilton must be close to having the greatest range of 5100s in their back catalogue.
Most were based on this case, with this bezel, a 1-12 bezel, or the fixed tachy, their "Sinn 156" lookalikes, soccer chronograph and others, with black dials, white dials, burgundy dials, ones with silver sub-dials, gold, date only, day-date and on and on.

I notice Listeragent still has one based on the same case, but with almost as many features different as it is possible to get

Phew - bet you're glad to get it back Pascal - it's a looker certainly, I'm not sure what I think of the bezel on the Hamiltons, but I like the way they've done everything else.

I was hoping to have jumped aboard the Lorenz club by now, but the vagaries of the Italian postal service seem to be playing against me at the moment - maybe in two years I'll get it
