I did get one of them at a rock bottom price

Anyway, I'm in negotiation for my next one which I'm paying for by installments - the mattress is empty!

Default An interesting one....

To save googling - 'Marchairuz' is a mountain peak in the Jura.

A 5012 which needs a bit of work, from the blurb. That zigzag blue Lemania style dial - looks quite nice, (not the biggest fan of that case shape personally though).

Interesting. This is one of those combinations of elements that falls right in the middle of what I like and what I really do not like.

Thanks for sharing, Andy!

A blue-dialled Lemania-powered chrono with a bezel and linear indices.
It should be perfect for me.
But I really do not like that case design at all.
All it needs is some nice proper lugs, and it would be fine, but instead the shrouded lugs look really crude and clunky.

Not my cup of chai after all.

Default More - from Italy

Once again I notice that Listeragent, a large EBay Jewellery and Watches listing agent from Italy has found a stock of NOS Hamiltons from the 90s. He regularly does, and offers them at pretty fixed BiN prices.

Lord knows where he keeps finding them, he's been trickling them onto the market for as many years as I have been interested in Lemanias.

I think he must have a disposal contract with the main Hamilton distributor from the 90s.

Along with the modular Lemania 283s and some others, there two are 5100s

And

Bizarrely, the first doesn't fall under the bargain category at €1220. the second however does, at a BiN of €435.

I am failing to see why a tachymetre instead of a bezel, and the addition of an italian day feature means a reduction of €800. Because the rest of the case is identical. But there we go.

€435 is not bad for an NOS 5100, even if it is fairly "challenging" in terms of rugged 5100 simplicity!

I should add that I have no connection with the seller, having never made a deal with them, although I have previously made enquiries about some of their watches and found them to be professional and courteous.

Dave

PS - Items 220896126513 and 350511597887 respectively

Having done a complete search through, I also see that the same seller has an RT Titanium Airspeed 5100, a Paul Picot telemark 5100 and a hideous Pryngeps 5100 for about €1000, €690 and €403 respectively.

You could get a whole collection of 5 x 5100s from one dealer, that must be pretty rare by now.

I've started so I'll finish.

To complete an Italian round-up, here are a couple more from other (unconnected to me) sellers.

First up a very interesting Lorenz Chrono-sub, exactly like mine, but complete with everything, box, papers bracelet the lot, and bidless at €699. If I didn't have one I'd be all over this. Item 320802296796

Second, a revolting Key West 5100, attractive only for a starting price of €370

Item 260804049805

There are bound to be others, but these are the "under the radar" ones with no mention of Lemania in the listing.

Good stuff Dave - much obliged...bang goes my 'no more watches 'till the new year' pledge...

Pryngeps. Just. No. Even as a 'donor' I'd struggle...

Andy, you need to get that Lorenz if only to prevent me from doing something stupid!

Back to less-than desirable items: http://tinyurl.com/czockxq

I like Fortis. I like Ducati. I like Lemania, too, but somehow 1+1+1 does not equal anything of value here for me.

Hmmmmm. I am inclined to agree, but these were the founding of my collection.
I managed to find a Ducati dealership in Leeds that had 4 of them, all spanking new, and sitting unloved in their store as the average Ducati rider was not enamoured with the prospect of spending £600 on a watch.

So I took a punt and got them all at a considerably knocked down rate, and sold them on in the forums, at a price that was still well below the market rate for a Fortis Cosmonaut 5100.

Everyone was a winner, and the resulting funds bought quite a lot of my collection.

So whilst they are not my favourite model to look at, I definitely have a soft spot for them.

Especially in the rather garish faux-916 tank box (which mine did not have).
