A few weeks back I got my Fortis B42 Lemania edition back from the nice man who was re-luming it.
It took over a year, and the involvement of the police, to get it back, but that is another story I won't go into. Anyway, the reason it was being re-lumed was this ![]() I am sure you all realise, but the Fortis is sat between my Tutima Commando II and my EZM1. The titanium triumvirate. The lume on the Fortis was pathetic. Really pathetic. And this ruined the watch for me. It really bugged me. It took a long time to find that watch, and a considerable effort to get, calling in favours from mates who happened to be in Singapore, and asking them to go to the cashpoint several times, then meet up with a total stranger in a bar, hand over their cash, get a watch, and then bring it to me. Anyway, I digress. It has now returned, and immediately needed a new crown and tube, and a clean and service (Grrrrrrrrrrr). But, the lume results are good ![]() Easily on a par with its two buddies. And I am made up with it. Having missed it for 14 months, it is like getting a new watch. Lovely, and to be honest, this is what it should have looked like anyway. I gather Fortis have sorted out their lume, but every one I have had (and that is a grand total of 8 Lemania-powered ones from mid 90s to 2003 in manufacture) has been patchy at best, and rubbish as a norm. I am having some more lume work done at the moment, and needless to say, I did not send it to the same guy...... D

That's more like it!
![]() I'm shocked the quality of the original lume was so poor, but I shouldn't be that surprised given that my Cosmo is hardly impressive in that field. But your B42 definitely deserved better, and you did the right thing getting it redone. Sorry to hear it ended up being such a misadventure though. This is probably a story for another thread, but I'd be curious to read about the circumstances that kept you separated from your watch for this long! This is one of the strengths of a forum like this one to help us differentiate the good guys from the shifty ones... |

Super results Dave - sounds like it's been a bit of a 'mare but worth it in the end by the sounds (and looks) of it.
Interesting trio as well, aside from the Ti element I like the way each company has come up with a unique 'pusher' solution; recessed, oversized and 'leftie'. I'm strapped at the mo. otherwise that Commando II would have be tempting.... |

You know I am not sure what was used. It definitely isn't Tritium, and definitely a strontium aluminate compound, but I am not sure it is one of the branded ones like SL.
I suspect not. Dave
