Looks like it's remaining @ +2 per 24 hours approximately. I think I'll settle for that.

I specifically asked for only a sympathetic polishing as part of the overhaul servicing but otherwise to leave alone ... I don't mind superficial scratches & dings as long as it was me that did them. As I really am not keen on overpolishing a watch, it's not always such a good idea in my opinion. Is there any consensus on this?

Arggh! I just looked at the dial very closely. There is a tiny mark a couple of mm from the tip of the seconds hand, noticeable when you reflect the blued to glow against the light. I'm not sure if it's a bit of removable dirt or an actual scratch. There is also a superficial transverse scratch on the outside half (of the dauphine central crease) at one end of the hour hand.

I know that removing & mounting hands are a very delicate process, but are handling scratches acceptable?

They aren't obvious to the casual naked eye but I'm not too happy about this Maybe watch servicing is not such a good thing after all & should be avoided for as long as possible
