It's already been a year since the premature death of Chuck Maddox at age 47. During this time, there has hardly been a day without me having a thought for my departed friend. Much of my tastes have been influenced by my interaction with him, and while I am happy his articles are still online, I have very much felt his absence during that time.
So yesterday I wore the Speedmaster he helped me find as a tribute to him...

A year already, can't get over that
.I was wearing this yesterday, I like to think Chuck would have approved .![]() I think Chuck's legacy will continue indefinitely, all his passion, enthusiasm and wit will become the stuff of legend. Definitely a case of gone but not forgotten. Cheers, Gary |

It is astounding that it is a year already.
I am wearing this ![]() And whilst I don't think Chuck had one, I can recall a discussion on OtD between Chuck and Jeff Stein as to whether it was the ultimate chronograph (Jeff reckoned it might be, Chuck wasn't convinced as I recall). Since his passing I have continued to have many causes to thank him for his online resources, and recall his clear point-by-point examination of topics. I owe a lot of my modest collection to his writings and advice. As you say Gary, gone, but not forgotten. And not likely to be. D

I can't belive it's a year. It's good that he's remembered by his friends.
I've decided to have a Speedmaster day today too.

I couldn't agree more with the sentiments expressed...
I think a lot of the charm of communicating like we do is that it is purely a mental connection, you never have someone online say, I saw Joe the other day and he didn't look well.... it gives you that child like feeling of invincibility or we'll always be there.... Chuck passing away was the second time I had experienced it... on the Heuer Forum a really nice Italian guy called Andreas got involved and he was very enthusiastic, his English was very good and he used to chat to me a lot... I was about to send him something and needed his address. I suddenly couldn't get hold of him.... I went to the main Italian Forum and posted a message and one of the guys is British and came back to tell me he was killed in a motorbike accident a week previously. That was equally a sad moment. It is funny just in this post how he connected with people, some over the Lemania 5100, some over the Moonwatch and me regarding the Micro-rotor Heuers. It shows the breadth of his reach and in his replies his kindness. All the best Chuck! ![]() ![]()
