Default Word from Tutima: No

In response to my query to Tutima about the possibility of producing more NATO Military TL watches with orange dials:

"Thank you very much for your request and your interest in Tutima instrument watches.

Unfortunately we are unable to manufacture the requested model."

It is to be expected, really. I have never seen another one for sale, and from distant memory recall that only a small number of these dials were made. I know that if I ever owned one, it probably would never be sold.

At least we can enjoy it from afar. That much is free!

It certainly is a rare one, the photos you have found are just about the only (real world) ones of this watch I have ever seen.

Sometimes I get the impression that Tutima customer services is based here

I have not got many positive answers from them yet - if any.

And my request for more information on the ZUZ-issued Tutimas has drawn no response whatsoever.

Oh well

Dave

I will try to put my hand on Dieter Delecate's business card and e-mail address, and send him the link to this discussion. I had the pleasure of chatting with him at the Basel Fair in 2005, and I remember that he paid very close attention to what was being said about his brand on watch fora.

So I believe he should be made aware that Tutima's customer service obviously has room left for improvement...

Indeed, especially as my contact (from previous correspondence) was Jorg Delecate, who must be some relation.

He could be his son, but that's a wild guess on my part.

It's really a pity that they do not appear to be more reactive because I like the brand and its products very much. When you take a look at what Jean-Claude Biver has single-handedly achieved on some watch fora to boost the image of Hublot, I believe Tutima might be missing on some opportunities to make their watches even more desirable.

The ZUZ chronos are a case in point: they are ultra-rare, and therefore extremely desirable. They could serve as "halo models" if Tutima was ready to build on just 1% of what a brand like B&R dedicate as far as "free publicity" goes, and yet they don't seem interested in doing it. To me, this is most puzzling...

It turns out that he is, and that his daughter Ute is also involved in the business.

Perhaps they are a little involved with the move back to Glashutte and the new lines.

It is a little frustrating, but no more or less than I have experienced with other manufacturers.
