This will probably be seen as heresy and I'll no doubt be burnt at the stake by a hoard of angry WIS's but I spent a couple of hours this afternoon building up this one. Crap pic I'm afraid.

It houses an ETA 2836-2 which I've completely stripped down and serviced, the case, dial and handset were from ebay. I've always wanted a Tudor Snowflake but can't afford one at the mo, so this will hopefully quell the urge for a while. The fact that I've serviced and assembled the watch gives me an enormous sense of satisfaction I must say

When I get a bit more time I'm going to pressure test it and I might replace the sapphire for acrylic if I can.

Cheers,
Gary

P.S. A huge thanks to Rocco and Mike (my watchmakers) for all their help, advice and patience.

Brilliant - well done Gary - and great to be so involved with its construction, movement an' all

Daniel - I'd get another one in that version, lovely.

Thanks Andy

The whole exercise, especially the movement service, has seen my appreciation of watchmakers and movement designers go up in quantum leaps. Mechanical movements really are a miniature piece of magic on your wrist, scratching the surface of how they work has definitely invigorated my interest in horology.

Cheers,
Gary

Not at all! Very nicely made! It is especially meaningful when you have intimate knowledge of it!
