Default Jaguar Experience at Thruxton, with Nick and Jon'

The Jaguar Experience at Thruxton, nr Andover, is an opportunity to drive production Jags around a high speed circuit. I'm not what is called a "natural driver" but even I jumped at the chance to join a couple of Authorised Bremont Dealers, Jon' (StampeSV4) and Nick English at the track a couple of Fridays ago.

To be honest, the day didn't start well. You may remember that, although the weather was lovely, there was a little bit of haze around in the morning. So when I got to White Waltham Airfield (home of West London London Aero Club (WLAC) and one of the oldest and best known airfields in the country), I was a little dismayed to see that it was basically un-flyable. My trip down to Andover in the Bremont bus was therefore off the cards - lucky Nick had brought the car!

Arriving at Thruxton a couple of minutes into the briefing, we sat down to be talked through the morning...
  • The supercharged XKR: "an awe-inspiring expression of Jaguar power and performance."
  • The Supercharged XFR: "the most dynamic and exhilarating expression of Jaguar sporting luxury."
  • The Diesel S: "the pinnacle of the Jaguar diesel range. With a power increase of 35PS, improved aerodynamics, uprated handling and softgrain R seats in the Premium Luxury and Portfolio it delivers an absorbing and involving environment for the enthusiast."
  • The XJ Supersport: "breathtaking performance with exceptional craftsmanship and exquisite detailing to create the ultimate expression of power and exclusivity."
  • In addition to driving the above cars were to be taken on a fast lap by a pro driver in the XKR-S, which "takes the Jaguar sports car experience to soaring heights."

Sounds good, eh?

It was. Even as someone more suited to Driving Miss Daisy than Bonneville, I found it to be a lot of fun - and quite intellectually challenging, although that's probably just me!

Oh. There were a few watches around. A number of Bremont owners were there and the watches ranged from P-51 through to BC-F1s and a few MBs.

Many thanks to Nick, Bremont, Jaguar and all concerned.

Attended this event the Tue before you. Had the pleasure of sharing my XFS and XFR with "whispering" Bob Harris - a gentleman and a real pleasure to meet.

Didn't see any other Bremonts but sported my ALT-C which one of the instructors admired.
